5-day journey through northern and central Morocco. Starting in Tangier, you’ll explore the scenic Rif Mountains, the blue-washed charm of Chefchaouen, and the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Discover imperial treasures in Meknes and dive deep into Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart in Fes with a guided tour of its historic medina. Continue to the coastal capital Rabat, and the modern pulse of Casablanca. On the final day, enjoy the artistic town of Asilah before returning to Tangier, completing a loop through Morocco’s rich heritage, history, and landscapes.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through the Rif Mountains, passing the city of Tetouan. We’ll stop along the way to take in the stunning landscapes before arriving in Chefchaouen, nestled at the base of the Rif range. Known as the “Blue Pearl” of Morocco, Chefchaouen’s medina reflects strong Spanish architectural influences from the time of Spanish Morocco. Wander through its vibrant square, filled with colorful artisan shops, and enjoy dinner at a rooftop café or riad with panoramic views and a refreshing mountain breeze.
After breakfast, we’ll journey through the Rif countryside toward the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll explore remarkably preserved ruins that offer insight into Morocco’s Roman past. Next, we’ll head to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. After lunch, we’ll visit key landmarks including Bab El Mansour, the medina walls, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Fes, where you’ll spend the night.
Today is dedicated to exploring Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart. The day starts at the impressive Royal Palace gate, followed by the Jewish Quarter (Mellah)—home to Morocco’s first Mellah, dating back to the 16th century. Highlights of the day include a visit to Al Quaraouine University—the oldest continuously operating university in the world—as well as the Tanneries, Attarine Museum, and the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. After lunch, we’ll explore artisan cooperatives and enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the ancient medina.
Before departing, we’ll highlight the three distinct sections of Fes:
Fes el Bali, the UNESCO-listed medieval medina with over 9,000 narrow alleyways
Fes-Jdid, home to the Jewish Quarter
Ville Nouvelle, built during the French Protectorate
We’ll then drive to Rabat, Morocco’s capital city, for a brief visit, before continuing to Casablanca, where you’ll spend the evening.
On the final day, we’ll visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca (optional stop), then continue along the Atlantic coast to the charming town of Asilah, known for its whitewashed walls, street art, and peaceful medina. Finally, we’ll arrive in Tangier, where the tour concludes.
