We’ll pause for photos whenever the scenery calls for it, so you can take it all in. This ride suits adrenaline lovers, couples, families, and groups of friends, because it blends action, laughs, and a true desert outing.
Excursion: 1-hour quad bike ride in the Sahara Desert Merzouga Desert activities
Your ride begins at our base in Merzouga, where you’ll meet your local guide. First, you’ll get a clear safety talk and simple instructions on how to handle the quad. Next, we fit you with a helmet and safety gear, so you feel ready before you hit the dunes.
Once you’re set, hop on your ATV and follow your guide into Erg Chebbi. You’ll ride across fine sand and roll up and down dunes that glow like gold in the sun. Meanwhile, a cool desert breeze keeps the ride comfortable.
Your guide picks the safest route for your skill level. You can also stop easily for views and photos, so you don’t miss the best angles.
During the ride, you’ll reach a high panoramic dune, one of the top viewpoints in the area. From here, the horizon stretches far across the Sahara. It’s also a great moment to rest, breathe, and enjoy the calm around you.
If you choose a longer tour (1.5 to 2 hours), your guide can take you near the dunes to visit a small Berber village or a nomadic family. You’ll see daily life up close and, in many cases, share traditional mint tea with welcoming locals.
After your dune ride, you’ll return to the same base where you started. Then you can take a short break, freshen up, and swap stories with others. It’s a great desert activity for solo travelers, couples, and families alike.
We had an amazing Merzouga quad biking experience. Riding across the desert dunes was exciting and the views were beautiful, especially at sunset. The guide was friendly and explained everything clearly, so it was easy even for beginners. It was definitely one of the best activities to do in Merzouga.
