Your 8 day itinerary Morocco starts in Casablanca, the economic center and largest city in the country. On arrival at the airport or at your accommodation, you’ll be greeted and taken straight to begin your city visit.

The first major stop is the impressive Hassan II Mosque, built on a headland that looks out over the Atlantic Ocean. As the largest mosque in Morocco, it stands out for its detailed design, towering minaret, and beautiful oceanfront setting.

After free time for lunch, you continue discovering Casablanca. Depending on your arrival time, your visit may include:

• Mohammed V Square, the lively main square known for its striking colonial-era buildings
• A photo stop at the famous Rick’s Café, inspired by the classic movie Casablanca
• A relaxing walk along the busy Corniche, lined with cafes, restaurants, and sea views

After breakfast, you have time to enjoy the narrow streets and photo-friendly corners of Chefchaouen. Then you leave the Rif Mountains and drive toward the Roman ruins of Volubilis.

Volubilis is one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in Morocco and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll see detailed mosaics, old columns, and archways that tell the story of this former Roman city.

After your visit, you travel about 30 kilometers to Meknes, a historic imperial city and former capital during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail. In Meknes, you visit:

• Bab Al-Mansour, the main monumental gate
• Sahrij Souani basin
• The Royal Stables and the old granary
• The Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail

You begin with a short driving tour around the city. Stops include:

• Al Attarine Madrasa, a beautiful old religious school
• The University and Mosque of Al Quaraouiyine, often considered the oldest operating university in the world
• The colorful Chouara Tanneries, where leather is still treated in traditional stone vats

After your tour through the winding streets of the medina, you return to your riad to relax.

After breakfast, you leave Fes and drive south through the town of Imouzzer toward Ifrane. This small city is known for its cool climate, winter snow, and chalet-style houses, which is why people often call it the “Switzerland of Morocco.”

You then continue to the nearby cedar forest, home to Barbary macaques. You can walk among the tall trees and, if you like, feed the monkeys in a respectful way.

Your route then leads to Midelt, where you stop for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, you cross the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and follow the Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and dramatic rock formations. There will be stops to enjoy the views and take photos.

By late afternoon, you arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here you swap the car for camels and ride across the golden dunes. You’ll pause on a high dune to watch the sunset over the sand.

You then leave the desert and head to Rissani, the old capital of the Tafilalet region. Rissani is still an important market town, especially on market days (Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday), when the souk becomes very lively.

After a walk through Rissani’s traditional market, you continue to Erfoud, known for its fossil-rich stone. Here you can visit a workshop that transforms fossilized marble into decorative pieces.

The route then passes through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before reaching the Todra Gorges. Over time, the Todra River carved a deep canyon with steep red cliffs, which rise up sharply on each side of the narrow valley. This dramatic spot attracts many rock climbers.

You can walk through the gorge, enjoy the cool air, and admire the rugged scenery. There is free time for lunch at a local restaurant.

Later, you travel to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades. Along the way, you stop at the famous “monkey fingers” rock formations and at a viewpoint high above the valley, where you can look down on the winding road and green fields.

After breakfast, you continue through the Dades region toward Kalaa Magouna and the Rose Valley. This area is known for its rose fields, and every May, locals celebrate the annual Rose Festival. During the season, you can find many rose-based products, including oils, perfumes, rose water, and skincare items.

   You then pass through the palm groves of Skoura, a fertile oasis dotted with traditional kasbahs. From there, you reach Ouarzazate, often called the gate to the desert. In Ouarzazate, you visit film studios where many international movies have been shot.

  Next, you drive to the famous ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic site has appeared in many films, such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as TV shows like Game of Thrones.

  After visiting Ait Ben Haddou, you continue in the direction of Marrakech. The road crosses the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, one of the highest paved passes in Morocco. There are stops along the way for lunch and for photos at scenic viewpoints. By late afternoon or evening, you arrive in Marrakech.
