Marrakech Desert trip

Day 1:Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Skoura Oasis – Rose Valley – Boumalne Dades

We’ll pick you up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech to begin the  3 days tour from Marrakech to Fes journey into the High Atlas Mountains. We cross the scenic Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2,260m), offering panoramic views and photo opportunities along the way.

Our first major stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a historic ksar (fortified village) known as a backdrop for films like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. After exploring the site, we enjoy lunch nearby.

In the afternoon, we travel through Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert and home to the famous Taourirt Kasbah and Atlas Studios. We continue through the scenic Skoura Oasis and the Valley of Roses, renowned for its springtime rose festival, before reaching Boumalne Dades, where we’ll overnight in a comfortable hotel or riad with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Camel Trek – Merzouga Desert Camp

After breakfast, we drive along the Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations and kasbahs, before heading toward the impressive Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs reach up to 600 meters.

Continuing our journey through the desert towns of Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud—famous for fossils and date palms—we arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the mighty Erg Chebbi dunes, some of the highest in North Africa (up to 150m).

At the edge of the dunes, we leave our main luggage and set off on a camel trek (about 1.5 hours) into the heart of the Sahara. As the sun sets, we arrive at our Berber desert camp, where you’ll be welcomed with mint tea and shown to your private tent, equipped with mattresses, blankets, and pillows.

Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, followed by music and drumming around the campfire under a sky full of stars—a truly magical Sahara night.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Azrou Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

Wake early to climb the dunes and witness a breathtaking Sahara sunrise. After breakfast and a camel ride back to Merzouga, we freshen up at the hotel before beginning our scenic journey to Fes.

Our route takes us through the Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves and dramatic rock formations, and on through the Middle Atlas mountains, passing the towns of Errachidia and Midelt.

We’ll stop to enjoy the fresh air of the Cedar Forest in Azrou, where you may spot Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Then we pass through Ifrane, nicknamed the Switzerland of Morocco for its clean streets and alpine-style architecture.

By late afternoon or early evening, we arrive in Fes, where we’ll drop you off at your riad or hotel—concluding your unforgettable Marrakech to Fes desert tour 3 days.
